Support For The Uncomfortable Charities

This has been another very successful fund-raising year for Brookmount Dance Ranch. Each year, we try to support a local charity. This year, we choose one which unfortunately is very often overlooked – The Royal Victoria Hospital Colo-Rectal Fund – it is a charity for people with Bowel Diseases like Crohns Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Bowel Cancer etc.

We didn’t just simply want to raise funds for this charity but also raise awareness. The embarrassing nature of these diseases means that more often than not people don’t feel they can talk about it.

Sharon Hendron said: “We got our tennis shoes on and joined in a local sponsored Fun Run, ending with a wee line dance of course! We raised even more money by holding raffles with prizes generously donated by local businesses, line dance demonstrations and a few social nights.

“We were thrilled to present RVH Colo-Rectal Fund representative, Mr Roy Maxwell, with a cheque for 2500. And would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our fund-raising efforts this year.”

Our Line Dance classes for beginners and intermediates are held every Monday night in Lowquarters Orange Hall, Ballinderry Rd, Magheragall, Lisburn. So if you want a fun way to keep fit and an opportunity to do your bit for local charities, then give Sharon a call on 02892661559.
