When Wendy from Wendys Wildkatz heard about the Abbotts Langley Monday Club she decided to hold a fund raising event. The Monday Club was set up in the 1980's to provide encouragement and support for those with learning difficulties but they rely on fundraising and donations to keep going.
Wendy says, “One of the Monday Club members is a regular at the Wildkatz and it was through his mother I learnt of their need for funds. Having spoken to the Irish Club in Watford which is The Wildkatz Tuesday evening venue they agreed to donate the use of the venue for the event."
She added, "Also, a chance email sent by Wendy's husband to Choreographer Kim Ray resulted in Kim very kindly donating her time to teach at the event. Kim taught 3 dances, 'DJ Saved My Life' , 'Roll the Dice' and 'Wobble' which is real fun dance and created a lot of laughter. I also taught 3 dances 'Foxy Girl' ,'To Be Loved' and 'If I Don't Dance'."
The day was a resounding success with all proceeds from the door entry and the raffle going to the Monday Club raising a total of £602.50.
Wendy said ' It was a fantastic day made all the nicer knowing that the money raised would go to such a good cause. Kim's contribution was fantastic, we were so lucky to have her here, all the dancers were delighted'.
