I went up to Paris to take part in a NTA teacher training weekend. I am the president of NTAFS which represents the American teacher training organisation headed by Kelly Gellette, and together with my team, Véronique Quint NTA director for France and our new treasurer Karine Casanove and secretary Patrice Chollet we helped with the administrative tasks, leaving trainer Robert Wanstreet Director NTA for Southern Europe to lead candidates through the 4 levels of the training programme.
The programme consists of a theoretical explanation of the technique, steps and terms used in our dance form, followed by practical demonstrations and execution of the material. Several people took the written and practical exams corresponding to each level. It was an intense and tiring weekend, but the people went away satisfied with the experience. Thanks also goes to Annie Briand regional director for the Parisian area and Muriel of AVEP who hosted the event.
NTA is well established in France and NTAFS now organises the administrative tasks, translates the technical manual, translates articles from the newsletter and organises a convention where instructors can get together and exchange experiences.
