St Audries Bay Body Rhythm/Dancelines Event 9-12 October

Just a short review to say that this was a good, fun event! We had 3 really good acts perform; Friday night was Texas Tornados, who are always a personal favourite of mine! Saturday was a brilliant performance from Natalie, and rounded up on Sunday night by the ever-excellent Alan Gregory, who's infectious giggles have led me and my friends to christen him "Alan Giggly!" An excellent and widely mixed disco on every evening was provided by Roger Shepherd :)

Dances were taught during the day by Daniel Whittaker, and Bev Goldson, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed every dance taught by the both of them. The atmosphere for the whole weekend was very friendly, and I made some new friends from various parts of the country.

If anyone is looking for a great weekend away with plenty of dancing and entertainment, I can whole-heartedly recommend any Body Rhytm/Dancelines event, whether it be at St Audries Bay, Hayling Island or Torquay. Hope to see you all there! :D

Thanks Sazlysaz. What a lovely review. I have compiled a review of all the dances taught over the weekend, which I was about to post when I came across your review. So thought I would put it in as a reply rather than post a new one. If anyone wants any of the scripts just send me an email and I will send you one.
Cheers Bev

Review of Body Rhythm weekend at St.Audries Bay October 9th-12th

Friday night kicked off with Texas Tornados who were there usual lively selves and delivered an entertaining evening and a good start to the weekend.

On Saturday morning I (Bev Goldson) started the workshop off with
I CAN DREAM – I can dream by Alan Gregory - Ron Tate - 32 count 4 wall improver
I chose this purely because we were having Alan Gregory on Sunday evening and decided it would be good for everyone to know it. Nothing hard about this dance and a good warm up.

Daniel Whittaker then taught one of his own dances that he had literally just finished, (in the car on the drive down).
FOREVER ROAD – Forever Road by Darius Rucker – 64 count 4 wall Intermediate – 1 restart
Really liked this one. The music is reminiscent of “somebody like you”. Great track. Will be taking this one to classes.

Daniel then taught
BABY’S GONE HOME – Baby’s gone home by the McClymonts – 40 count 4 wall improver
Nice neat little dance, with enough in it to keep it interesting and an upbeat track to keep you on your toes!

I finished the day off with
RAIN AGAINST MY WINDOW – I Can’t Stand The Rain by Seal - Michael Barr – 32 Count 4 Wall Int
I just love this track and the dance fits beautifully. This is a dance with attitude! Have already taught this in all my classes and it has done well in every one.

Saturday evening we had the lovely Natalie who is always on top form with some of the latest songs/dances – a DJ’s nightmare but we love her! DJ Roger Shepherd did manage to keep the floor full between sets, and even managed to NOT play any of her songs!

On Sunday morning I gently started the workshop with a little beginner dance
15 MINUTES – 15 Minutes by Rodney Atkins – Theresa Needham – 32 count 4 wall beginner
Great county track with amusing lyrics! Funnily enough Texas Tornadoes played this on the Friday night and I was the only person who knew it! Which is always good when you teach something nobody knows.

Daniel taught his dance
LONG TALL SALLY – Long Tall Sally by Cagey Strings – 64 count 4 wall improver
A rock and rock track that you can sing along too! Although 64 counts it is straight counts all the way through so doesn’t feel that long.

Then for a bit of fun and to give our brains a rest Daniel taught a little partner dance
LORRIES DANCE – 48 count couples dance - Bill Williamson
Was really good fun and can be done by anyone, even if you‘ve never done a partner dance before. It doesn’t travel round the room so you can stand anywhere and do it. We danced it to Let’s Get Loud by Jennifer Lopez but any fast Cha Cha will do.

I finished off the workshop with
MEXACALI – Mexico by Tobias Rene – Robbie McGowan Hickie – 64 count easy intermediate - 1 tag
Went down well. Tag is really easy too, although it is 16 counts, it is really just an 8 count tag done twice! Has a Mexican feel to it and could also be taught to improvers.

Sunday evening saw the end to our weekend with the talented Alan Gregory who entertained us with both his music and comedy. He was delighted that everyone knew “I Can Dream” and was an excellent end to our weekend at St.Audries Bay. He also did a duet with DJ Roger Shepherd who donned a blow up guitar and sang the chorus to “Johnny Be Good”!!

A big thank you to Danielle Whittaker who stepped in at the last minute to do this weekend for us. He was superb.

Thank you to all those that attended and made the weekend the success that it was from myself Bev Goldson & Roger Shepherd.

Thanks for that Bev, I didn't catch what the partner dance was called so I'll look forward to reviewing that myself at home :)

Also glad to see that Forever Road will be getting into the classes, I loved that dance, and the track! Please say we'll be doing it on a Weds night class :-D

Hi
We are contemplating doing a weekend at St Audries Bay, so would appreciate some info;
What is the accommodation like
How big is the dancefloor (is it a hike from chalet to ballroom?)
Is the food good.
