Kim Ray's Workshop with Craig Bennett - 24 October

Postby Alan and Fi Haywood on Sun Oct 25, 2009 6:52 pm

Well, what can I say about this event but BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT!!!

Kim, as usual, organised a fantabulous day - it's only what I expect from Kim and her Dollies, and of course DJ Phil Partridge. This time, her guest choreographer was Craig Bennett and although we've only met him a couple of times, he is just the loveliest guy! He's great fun and lovely to watch - those hips Craig!!!!

All dances taught were just great - I only actually learned 2 out of the 6 that were taught, not because I didn't like them, but because I've been ill and could only manage 2! The 2 I learned I absolutely loved and I also loved watching those I didn't - so well done to Kim and Craig for a cracking day - I have to say, in my opinion, it was one of the best ones I've been to!

So here are all the dances that were taught (in no particular order) and I hope to have the scripts on our site in the next few days - just waiting for a couple!

Craig taught:

Senoritas - Senoritas by Alex Sings, Oscar Swings
Put Your Hands Up - One For The Lovers by Whitney Houston
Don't Let It Go - Don't Let It Go by Jordin Sparks
I'm Movin On - I'm Moving On by Rascal Flatts

Kim taught:

My Angel - You by Belle Perez
Million Dollar Bill - Million Dollar Bill by Whitney Houston

Kim also recapped (mainly for her class) You and I by Oli Gear

After all the teaching and afternoon dancing, as usual, there was the demo slot for any choreographers to demo their latest creations and there were a lot of demos!

Here's a list of the dances demoed - again, I hope to get these scripts onto our site in the next few days:

Fight For This Love - choreographed by Kate Casserley
Rhonda - choreographed by Alan Haywood
What You Are To Me - choreographed by Kumari Tugnait
Bad Romance - choreographed by Michael Lynn (aka Bimbo Boots)
One Love Is All We Need - choreographed by Alan Haywood
Broken Heels - choreographed by Jo & John Kinser and Mark Furnell
Light Up - choreographed by Michael Lynn (aka Bimbo Boots)
So Yesterday - choreographed by Jo & John Kinser and Mark Furnell

See what I mean! Obviously, I can't comment on Alan's dances, but all the others looked great! Could be some hits there!

Kim's next workshop event is Saturday 27 February 2010 where her guest choreographers are Teresa and Vera and I'm praying for good weather as last February when they were booked, Kim had to cancel - bless! Let's all hope this one goes ahead and the snow doesn't appear! LOL!

Thanks Kim and all!

Hello All,

I can only second what Fiona posted. Fantastic event and all dances were fabulous! No stinkers....! lol  I've come to expect Kim's Events to always deliver and this one certainly did. One of my favourite parts is always the raffle.... so inventive with her number calling... Craig was a charming fella and we all had a great dinner in this super posh pub... my raspberry tiramasu was heavenly! Anyways onto the videos....

My thanks to Fi for her report - fabulous job - also to Michael Lynn for videoing the teaches and getting them up on Youtube so quickly (you are a star) - thank you both.

These events would not be possible without the valued help of The Dollies (Lyn B, Sandie, Annmarie and Sue), and of course Phil who DJ'd tirelessly throughout the afternoon and evening keeping everyone dancing. Also Rob who takes photo throughout the day and night - thanks guys, you know I loves ya.

Craig Bennett was our guest choreographer and was such a hit with the dancers, not just for his dances but for his personality that I have already booked him again for July next year.

I should like to thank all the dancers for their continued support of me and my events, especially my Tuesday class dancers, my Wednesday class dancers, Mandy and her gang, Louise from Ipswich, T&V's dancers, A&S dancers Jo, John and Mark, Stephen Gell and all those who travelled so far (and got stuck on various motorways) for your support. It is truely YOU who make these events the success they seem to be - thank you. (I hope I haven't forgotten anyone!!)

I should also like to send my very best wishes to Vera who travelled as far as the M1 with Teresa to be with us but had to turn around due to being poorly - hope you're feeling better V (the Dollies really missed you both).

Our next all day event, as Fi says above, is in February with Teresa & Vera. Our Christmas party night (A Masquerade Nite) is on Monday 28 December starting at 7.30pm till late - hope to see some of you there.

Kim xx

Michael, did you get any sleep last night????? Or were you just too hyper and excited????!!!! :D :D Wouldn't blame you if you were!!!

Have to echo what you and Alan and Fiona have said, yet again it was a brilliant day full of fun, laughs . . . oh and some fab dances taught, too!! Thanks for another great event, Kim.

Craig is a lovely guy and I can honestly say that I enjoyed every single dance taught during the day. My 2 favourite dances by far were Craig's Don't Let It Go and Kim's My Angel, both beautiful dances to gorgeous tracks.

Phil, as always, did a brilliant job of keeping us all dancing, even when one of us needed to rest our poorly foot!!! :x :D And the Diamond Dollies were the perfect hostesses as always.

Aah, that's it for Kim's workshops for another year. Am already looking forward to the first one of 2010! If you've never been, make a note to attend at least one of them next year, you're guaranteed to have a FABULOUS time!!!

Kumari xx

P.S. I have a little confession to make - I messed up on my demo  (and how annoyed am I with myself over that??? ). So I have asked Michael not to post the video of it - better no video than a wrong one, eh? I put it down to a combination of above-mentioned poorly foot and nerves at the thought of attending the choreography competition semi-final heat the following day!!
Bring On The Trumpets!!
