Music is really lovely to listen to. However, the choreographers seem to have got a bit 'over the top' with full-turn shuffles and the one-and-a half-turn shuffle at the end is very fast and tricky for many less experienced dancers. Intermediate dancers should cope with it however, and the dance can be simplified for Beginners by substituting side shuffles (side-close-side) on the full turns, and a triple half-turn left instead of the 1.1/2 turn at the end. This way all levels can manage it. 5 points for the music. 3 for dance.
The Trail

Trail of Tears by Billy Ray Cyrus is a superb country track which makes you want to dance to it. We need more dances to country tracks like this one!! Steps are interesting, but not too difficult with a little practice. Most good beginners should manage it. Dance works well and fits the music beautifully and is a joy to do. Everyone loves it here.

One of the Dean Bros. tracks. Music reasonable, but dance lively and easy for Beginners/Improvers who seem to love it.

Great! Instant hit with our Thursday class. Hope it is a success for Alan. They all loved the music. I did it to Start the Car by The Bunch, from the Ultimate In Dance Album. Good luck Monica Williams

I loved this dance the moment i learned it, you can have sooo much fun with it. It's also very energetic, i couldn't believe it when i first saw Maggie Gallagher dance it...whoa can that girl move...seriously, one minuit she was at the front, the next she had danced all the way to the back!!!! Anyway i love it!

This is a great dance, with lots of opportunities for styling. Love the music too. Not too difficult to learn, just a bit tricky on the timing in some places - gives the old grey matter something to do! Glad it is still around given the speed that dances come and go!! Surprised it isn't better known and that there haven't been more reviews. I give it a 4.

Dancing In The Dark

Nicola Glenc - 10/01/2001
This is gorgeous!!!! I'm not really a fan of slow dances, but this is sooooo lovely...you can totally tell it's one of Jo Thompsons' creations. When done to Gary Allan you can really drift away...like smoke rings in the dark!! Well done Jo, this one is a winner!
Believin'

A beautiful song which is quite slow but the dance fits really well. Taught it to my classes last week and they loved it. Timing can be a bit tricky on the scuffs but it's well worth a go.
Cross Your Mind

Sue - 10/01/2001
Quite a nice dance which doesn't need too much concentration. Shame it's not a two wall dance because the end would be nice done contra (man bowing-woman curtesying. However, my classes like it as it is. Definitely worth teaching.
